Simple is not easy
Computers were invented in order to make calculating easier and faster. Their success has been spectacular. In the 1960s, more and more company departments began to use computing electronics. Starting with accounts, one department after another was added: purchasing, planning, production, sales, marketing, research, administration. Everywhere, something was simplified and speeded up.
So surely everything is hunky-dory? Not quite. Over the last two decades, one thing has become more and more complicated – working in the IT departments themselves. Solutions are now required which can bring more simplicity to these departments. And that is by no means easy.
Specialized in complex tasks
As a subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, the IT service provider Lufthansa Systems has grown up in an industry which has always been one of the forerunners of new technologies. This also applies to the IT systems.
From the very beginning, airlines, banks and insurance companies were among the industries with the greatest need for more and better IT solutions. The reason: the immense complexity of the business processes of international network airlines. With their IT systems, the airlines have actually brought about many improvements: from revenue management through the entire global network to flight route planning, from flight safety to increasing overall productivity. And at all times, countless data must be available around the world at a second's notice.
Direct added value for customers
Today, Lufthansa Systems occupies a world-leading position in the aviation industry, also providing consulting and IT services for other, selected industries. Thanks to our origins we are trained to find solutions for our customers which focus on measurable practical benefit – in the form of improved efficiency, reduced costs or increased revenue. Simplifying what is difficult, transforming complexity into a lean process, speeding up what is slow – these are typical results of our work. Here are three examples: NetLine SP, Lido/Flight and Integrated Commercial Platform (ICP).
